Listener Reviews & Comments This album is a really fantastic example of Kenny Wheeler's more recent compositions. He also plays some beautiful Flugelhorn on the pieces, often in unison with Norma Winstone's pure sounding voice. The suite is a beautifully contemplative work and the main features are some extremely delicate melodies and cyclic harmonic progressions. The arrangements appear to be quite simple because of the ease and poise in which they are performed, but as the pieces grow the layers build up until the texture is a finely woven mesh of melodic and contrapuntal writing. It is a truly stunning album, exploring the more subtle and expressive side of Jazz Orchestration.
