Listener Reviews & Comments This record, originally from 1987, is not one of Ahmad Jamal's highlights. That it was issued by Collectables suggests that it is worthy only for those who want anything by Jamal, the ugly as well as the good. No insert commentary is included. In this transitional augmented trio setting, James Cammack is his bass, but percussion is provided by Wille White and David Bowler. As far as the music itself, only "For My Daughter" has the spark that we expect from Jamal. There are indeed fine moments in "Avo", "Perugia" and "The Last Day", but the overall feeling is pedestrian, tasteful but undistinguished. Save your shekels unless you in fact are a collector.
