Although there's nothing innovative here, the music goes beyond many similar efforts by the younger generation of hard boppers. Israel presents a carefully planned program of jazz standards and originals which is further enhanced by three appearances from Steve Turre, including one on shells. Other solo honors go to saxophonist Eric Alexander and vibist Bryan Carrott. Recording quality is fine for a live performance.
