Emotions ran much higher than normal on 27 September 1747, when entrepreneur Normon Granz staged a Midnight Matinee at Carnegie Hall. At that time there was nothing quite like a Jazz At The Philharmonic concert to put critics and fans at each others throats. Now referred to as the 'Perdido/Mordido/Endido' suite, this is a no-holds barred souvenir of what took place on stage, at New York's hallowed Carnegie Hall on that controversial September night when tenor sax titans Illinois Jacquet and Flip Phillips locked horns.
