Michael Jensen's second CD demonstrates his strong ability to master a classic ballad like "Over The Rainbow" and put his own stamp onto it to make it something new, appealing and vibrant. Michael tweaks the arrangement for "Over The Rainbow" here and there to perform this unforgettable piece of art in several different styles on this CD. This formula works well for Michael; he succeeds in his desire to put his own stamp onto the classic ballad "Over The Rainbow." I especially enjoyed two completely original numbers by Michael himself: "Judy's Smile" and "The Smiles That Go On." "Judy's Smile" evokes memories of her beautiful smile and great warmth; Michael does a great job with this piece. "The Smiles That Go On" is equally strong; Michael writes and performs with a passion that I greatly admire. The liner notes include a brief essay by Michael Jensen himself as well as beautiful black and white photos of his mother, Judy Garland and his late sister Jackie Dingmann. Terrific! In short, this is a great CD for Judy Garland fans, fans of fine piano music and people who want to experience Michael's strong ability to perform so well on the piano. Get this CD and enjoy!
