He was also a very prolific composer leaving over 400 works, mostly violin concerts and sonatas. Being an excellent violinist, the performance of his music involves great virtuosity and difficulty. About the Artist: Throughout his artistic career Enrico Gatti, a pupil of Chiara Banchini and Sigiswald Kuijken, has performed all over Europe, Canada, The United States of America, South America, Russia, Japan and Australia. He has worked with La Petite Bande, Ensemble 415, Concerto Palatino, Hesperion XX and La Real Cámara, among other groups, as first violinist with Les Arts Florissants, Les Talens Lyriques, Taverner Players and The King's Consort, as well as with conductors including Gustav Leonhardt and Ton Koopman. He is the director of the Aurora Ensemble, which he founded in Italy in 1986. He has made numerous recordings for the labels Harmonia Mundi France and Germany, Accent and Ricercar (Belgium), Fonit Cetra, Tactus and Symphonia (Italy), Arcana and Astrée (France), and Glossa (Spain), as well as for radio stations across the world. His recordings have frequently been recommended by specialised critics and have obtained the Premio Internazionale del Disco Antonio Vivaldi (1993 and 1998) and various "Diapason d'or", among other awards. Enrico Gatti teaches Baroque violin at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and in Novara. His teaching skills have been solicited by institutions including the conservatoires of Paris, Lyon, Madrid, Amsterdam and Utrecht, the Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen, the University of British Columbia, the Universidad de Salamanca and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana of Siena. He has also taught at courses in Urbino, Erice, Venice, Lanciano (Italy), Barbaste (France), Spa (Belgium), Béjar (Spain), Szombathely (Hungary) and Amherst (USA).
