In jazz, if you say flugelhorn, Art Farmer comes to mind immediately. He was "instrumental" in popularizing the use of it, and no one made it sound more lyrical. Made up mostly of ballads, YESTERDAYs THOUGHTS includes songs by Michel Legrand, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Johnny Mercer and Benny Golson (who wrote the familiar title track) featuring the expertise & warmth of Art Farmers playing. The accompanying rhythm section is made up of very capable musicians pianist Cedar Walton, bassist Sam Jones and drummer Billy Higgins. Cedar Walton even contributed the up-tempo number, "Firm Roots", with the members expertly playing off each other.
