Listener Reviews & Comments
How do you do music education if you aren't musically trained? I have friends who home school, but they don't have the musical training I got as a kid. A good starter is this CD. It really is "the best of the best" and a wide sampling of everything from Baroque to Opera to classical with Jazz inspiration (Gershwin.) If you aren't a classical music buff and want to introduce yourself or your kids to the great music of the centuries, this is a very good starting point. The pieces are arranged alphabetically, which I find strange (I would have preferred chronologically) but for searching and replaying composers, this is a good thing. That's why I think this makes a good resource for home schoolers or for parents introducing their kids to music, especially if the music program at their school has been eliminated to save costs.
