Paddy Fitzgerald has a long history with the Emerald Isle, going back to his grandparents. Immigrants from Eire during the times of troubles, he was constantly hearing stories about the old country through the folk songs his grandfather played for the family. He played lute, mandolln, and the pipes, and each of the kids were responsible for learning one. Paddy picked mandolin, but soon discovered that he could play almost anything that he wanted. A career in music soon followed, and Fitzgerald became an in-demand session player. Moving to Ireland after several visits, he continued as a producer and engineer, for music from punk to traditional. On this, his first independent album, Paddy returns to his roots, playing the very best in traditional music on his own terms. The production is his, the engineering is his, and even though the songs may be old, the energy is certainly his!
