This CD swings, it rocks and it is technically brilliant. From the first track," I wann talk to you," to the last note of "Don't explain," this CD is utterly satisfying to listen. Regina Carter not only employs her fiery violin but also a whole slew of back up instruments like the african drum djembe on track #5. She seems to have an acute awareness of what is great music, what is beautiful jazz and she is so so so talented. It is easy to like the first track and the more familiar like Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody." (ever thought I would hear this song covered in violin- excellent!) But the slower, more pensive numbers like "When I hear Your Name" appeals to one's romantic leanings. And it also gives one a chance to appreciate the quiteness of her violin. Well, enough said, Regina Carter is a pleasure to listen to.
