Listener Reviews & Comments
This review is from: Bambi's Dilemma (Audio CD)
Ok, admittedly this is one of the poppiest albums Melt Banana has released and it does seem a little "accessible" or "mainstream" but that doesn't take from the excellence of this album. The structures are still too confusing to be put on the radio and the band, even in light of opening for Tool , is still relatively unknown. This album, I think, combines Yasuko's love for both hip hop and punk in a fresh and unique way. The music will begin with pop structures but is usually blown apart by the much loved Melt Banana sound. All together this album is highly enjoyable and still very unique. Melt Banana has progressed yet again and has made yet another highly enjoyable album. Oh, and to the guy angry about Melt Banana selling out: I think you've totally jumped the gun on that one. You have to remember that this is Melt Banana and they never stay still. They could release 3 albums of straight pop and suddenly release a fourth disc of guitar freakouts if they wanted to. Also, getting angry because they're opening for Tool is useless. Fantomas, Tomahawk, The Melvins, and Isis have all opened for Tool and they're all still putting out great music (except for Isis, they're not so great). Melt Banana opening for Tool won't suddenly elevate them to the top of the charts because, lets face it, the majority of Tool fans are stubborn highschool kids that think Tool is the most original and exciting band on the face of the earth (I like em but they're overrated). Fantomas and Tomahawk were booed on their tours with Tool so I'm assuming the same is going to happen with Melt Banana. This tour is only going to anger people on a large scale. Oh, and it's really stupid to throw all your CDs out because you think they sold out. Even if you didn't like Bambi's Dilemma they still made music you like.
